Fighting Addiction in Phoenix: Dr. Che Jordan’s Mission for Substance Use & Mental Health Recovery

Servant leadership. No matter your status or title, do not forget we are designed to serve and help people. Be understanding, patient, and remember every day that you serve a greater purpose than your title, pride, or ego. Stay humble and have humility.

For Dr. Che Jordan, President of Ebony House Inc., making a difference isn’t about titles - it’s about purpose. With a strong commitment to substance use treatment, mental health care, and community support, he has guided Ebony House Inc. in expanding critical rehabilitation services for individuals and families in need.

Dr. Jordan’s dedication to community healing and rehabilitation has earned Ebony House Inc. the prestigious 'BNS Best in Business' award two years in a row. Through his efforts to expand addiction recovery services, forge partnerships that provide alternatives to incarceration, and increase access to life-changing programs, he has become a true advocate for those in need. This recognition reflects not just the success of Ebony House, but the lasting impact it has on individuals and families seeking hope and recovery.

Building a Legacy of Healing

For decades, Ebony House Inc. has been a pillar of support for those battling addiction, mental health struggles, and high-risk health concerns. Its programs are designed to empower individuals, offering them a second chance at stability and well-being.

We provide specialized programs tailored to meet diverse needs. Our Men and Women Residential Treatment is a structured environment to focus on substance use rehabilitation. Comprehensive 24-hour supervised care is available for women seeking recovery. For adults requiring less intensive care, outpatient services are available, targeting those who have experienced mild to moderate impairments. These services empower individuals to manage their challenges while maintaining daily responsibilities.

Recognizing the unique struggles of youth, Ebony House also provides behavioral health outpatient services for children and young adults, giving them the tools to stabilize behaviors and navigate life’s challenges. Additionally, the organization’s HIV/AIDS/STD outreach and prevention programs play a crucial role in educating and protecting high-risk communities.

With a broad spectrum of services, we remain a trusted source of hope and support for those seeking a path forward.

Expanding Services to Reach More People in Need

Under Dr. Jordan’s leadership, Ebony House continues to expand its impact, ensuring more families and individuals battling addiction have access to quality care.

Our goal is to continuously increase awareness of services across the nation, the generosity of sponsorships and donations through formulated and supported community partnerships. This will help with continuously removing barriers for families and individuals who are struggling to battle addiction.

Looking ahead, Dr. Jordan has ambitious plans to grow Ebony House’s supported services and housing.

We want to grow our supported services and housing and are looking to open an emergency housing for those with HIV. We have a strong commitment to the well-being of the community with the battle of fentanyl throughout this nation.

What started in the 1970s as a response to a critical community need has now become a comprehensive health agency serving Hispanic, Latinx, Native American, Caucasian, and African refugee populations

Gaining National Recognition & Building Trust

The impact of Ebony House has gained national attention, leading to recognition from Cox Media and exposure on major platforms.

Recently, we have achieved the increase in our client trust by being recognized by national brand Cox Media. We were shown on their network YurView, Tubi, fubo, and Bloomberg, highlighting the effectiveness of our program through the testimonies from our alumni.

Additionally, Ebony House has forged strong partnerships with the judicial system, creating an alternative to incarceration for individuals struggling with addiction

We have established relationships with the judicial system to assist with inmates that are in need of substance use services. They have the opportunity for early releases and can obtain the services they need instead of incarceration.

Leveraging Media & Digital Outreach to Expand Awareness

As Ebony House grows, so does its outreach strategy. By leveraging television and digital media, the organization has expanded its audience and impact, reaching more people who need help.

Our 2025 segment on Cox Media YurView has started the year off in growing our audience about the services we provide to the community. Furthermore, working with Brandstar has helped by posting our segment of the 2024 Montel Williams show The Balancing Act and several big affiliate networks.

Local media coverage has also played a key role in community engagement

The 2024 Sonoran Living ABC 15 segment really brought the boots-on-the-ground coverage of the local market, making our services become well-known through the valley.

Ebony House continues to expand its digital presence, making it easier for people to connect with its mission and services.

Overcoming Challenges & Strengthening Financial Support

Despite its success, Ebony House has faced financial challenges due to changes in billing rates and reimbursement cuts. However, Dr. Jordan remains proactive in securing the organization's sustainability

Recent challenges are the changes to billing rates and reimbursements. The cut in billing rates and payment of services is making it difficult to continue operations. My approach has increased service awareness, the effectiveness of the program through alumni testimonials, put us in position for grant opportunities, and created an opportunity for the generosity of the community to support this cause and needed service of the community through donations.

Ebony House’s efforts have paid off, securing HIV Ryan White funding and new donations that ensure services remain available to those in need.

The Future: Virtual Counseling & Nationwide Expansion

Looking forward, Dr. Jordan sees virtual counseling as the next step in making Ebony House services available to more communities beyond Phoenix.

We are planning on going to virtual counseling services. This could be the start of having an Ebony House-provided service in states that have high fentanyl usage, lack of HIV resources and counseling, and those battling mental health issues in rural and urban areas.

Beyond Leadership: A Look at Dr. Jordan’s Personal Passions

Away from his professional role, Dr. Jordan is passionate about nature, architecture, and giving back to causes he believes in

I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening, and architecture. Also, supporting organizations that support education, those with developmental disabilities, and military veterans.

His guiding philosophy remains the same:

No matter your status or title, do not forget we are designed to serve and help people. So, be understanding, patient, and remember every day that you serve a greater purpose than your title, pride, or ego. It is not about you, so stay humble and have humility.

Leaving a Lasting Impact

Through his leadership at Ebony House, Dr. Jordan is ensuring that addiction recovery, mental health services, and housing support remain available to those who need them most.
