Q & A With Danielle Jenkins, CEO of Domestic Divas Cleaning Co.

What services does Domestic Divas Cleaning Co. offer?

i) i) Luxury residential and commercial cleaning offered in Ontario Canada. ii) Luxury cleaning products offered Canada wide (soon to be US, also) iii) Staff training/mentorship programs offered internationally

How did you come up with the idea to start Domestic Divas Cleaning Co., and what purpose did you intend to serve with the concept?

Prior to starting the company, I was intending on going to school to be a lawyer. In the years leading up to starting my law studies, I found myself in a situation where I ended up in financial trouble and needed to get this resolved before proceeding into law school. To get through this, I decided to start cleaning luxury weekend homes on evenings and weekends to pay off debt & make money. Very quickly, within 8 months, I paid off close to 80K in debt and found myself hiring friends to help with the mass of clients I was getting. At this point, I had to make the decision to keep going with the company, or stop completely and proceed to law school. I decided to keep going, I loved what I had going, and we had great momentum.  Through this process, I found that the cleaning industry had really poor standards and was known for lack of professionalism and sophistication. It became my mission and focus to change the narrative of the cleaning industry and bring professionalism and sophistication to the industry with my company. 5 years later, we are now an award-winning, multi million dollar, cleaning company.

Which steps have you taken for the company to achieve the level of consumer trust that has been nationally recognized?

I have created the processes and systems to ensure professionalism and sophistication from beginning to end that differ from every other cleaning business.

What part of your education or other experiences do you feel was the most helpful in preparing you for success?

I completed highschool with honours, and I did not go to college or university; I engage in non-stop self-education to keep up with business trends,

entrepreneurship, leadership, personal development, etc. I am very involved in community & philanthropic affairs, as well.

I found this was helpful with being current, in ensuring I am always on the top of my game to run the company well, and to encourage my staff to also live and be the best they can possibly be. I also love giving back to my community and others because I, personally, have been at a low point in my life. For this reason, I love giving back to help others - because I know what it feels like.

Which strategies have you found the most effective in growing your audience/ bringing awareness of your service to a larger consumer group?

We use social media for presence, and are extremely active on Google. However, a majority of our success has come from word-of-mouth and dominating the cleaning industry within our community, as well as outside of it with our other areas of service.

Follow us : @domesticdivascleaningco and www.domesticdivas.org.

Which partnerships, if any, have been the most constructive in bringing your goals closer to becoming a reality?

I found networking and being open to any opportunities that come my way have been a huge help for our company's success.

Are there any challenges that made it difficult to continue operation and that you managed to overcome? What was your approach to get past these?

In 5 years, the biggest challenge was COVID, especially when it came to new staffing/hiring. Fortunately, this did not have anything to do with our amazing staff force we already had, and they fought through every moment with us.

How do you balance work, passions/hobbies, and relationships?

I stick to my boundaries as much as possible. Obviously it is tough with the odd longer meeting or meeting outside of business hours, but I try to do my morning routine from 5-7am, where I enjoy my coffee with my family and get ready for the

day. Then, by 7/8pm, after work, working out, playing tennis, and responsibilities, I try to be home to enjoy dinner time and personal time with my family. I also enjoy taking part in dinner parties with my girlfriends and colleagues, in the evenings. We value our Sunday afternoons to prepare for the busy week ahead.

What are your future plans to build on your personal/ company achievements and fulfill your vision for success/ what developments can your audience or clientele look forward to expecting next?

Our company will be expanding into further areas over the next few months and years, as well as expanding our product line into retail. Along with this, offering mentorship and coaching to other businesses in the service industry is on the horizon, especially within the cleaning industry. Personally, a close business partner & I have started a podcast called @onbusinesspodcast, where every friday, Brandon & I, give you real talk, no nonsense, expert advice, about running & owning successful companies. This is a newer project for us, where aspiring entrepreneurs can get an honest & real insight into owning a business, and current business owners can get some advice about potential goals, or even struggles they may be having, because lets be real, we all have them. You can find this on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

What advice would you like to give readers that hope to achieve success in your field?
