Face Masks for Recent Wildfires- How to Stay Protected

 Health officials are advising people to wear face masks to protect themselves from breathing in toxic smoke as wildfires continue to burn in multiple regions.



Jean-Yves Duclos, the minister of health, told reporters on Wednesday morning that he was feeling the effects of the smoky air and advised people to wear a N95 mask, especially if they had pre-existing respiratory ailments.


Wearing a N95 mask is therefore the suggested course of action by health officials for all of these persons, including anyone who may want to protect themselves against the negative effects of poor air quality, said Duclos on Wednesday.


Although wearing a mask is a matter of personal preference, he nonetheless advises Canadians to do so when they are outside because their country has some of the worst air quality in the world.
