Ebony House Inc.: 51 Years of Hope, Healing, and Impact

For 51 years, Ebony House Inc. has been a trusted force in the fight against addiction, mental illness, and housing insecurity in Arizona. Founded on a vision "given from God to Mrs. Ela to invest $500 into a place that'll be able to help people fight the disease of addiction and substance [use] mental health," the organization continues to change lives through structured care, compassion, and community integration.

Now in 2025, Ebony House has been recognized as one of Business Fortune’s “30 Most Admired Companies of the Year”, and for two consecutive years, one of the Best Businesses in America. Its legacy is supported not only by awards—but by the powerful stories of transformation shared by alumni, staff, and clients.

“Ebony House is a place that is a beacon of hope,” shared one alumni in a recent Cox Media video feature. “I’ve been an alumni for 33 years... they raised me to be a man. They gave me the tools, the knowledge, and the tough love that it takes to be a real man.”

Comprehensive Care That Extends Beyond Treatment

Ebony House’s programs are built around a full spectrum of services. Clients receive:

  • Residential treatment for men and women
  • Individual, group, and family counseling
  • Life skills training, resume writing, and vocational support
  • Children’s Behavioral Health Services
  • Medical case management for individuals newly diagnosed with HIV

As one staff member explained, “We meet clients where they're at... all the lights are bright, because when you're in addiction everything is dark. But we want to be able to be a beacon of light—and that light gives the hope when you walk through the door.”

Ebony House also collaborates with employment services, community leaders, and judicial diversion programs to offer treatment as an alternative to incarceration. Through these partnerships, the organization is helping individuals reintegrate into the workforce and rebuild their lives.

Support Needed to Sustain the Mission

While the organization’s impact continues to grow, the need for financial support is urgent. As stated in the televised segment, “We need monetary donations to be able to continuously buy the food, provide the clothing and all the accessories that clients come in [for] treatment that they don't have.”

Dr. Che Jordan, President of Ebony House, and the team are calling on supporters to join the mission—whether through individual donations, community partnerships, or corporate sponsorships. The organization’s 51-year journey has been built on the power of faith, service, and public involvement—and it will take that continued support to carry it forward.
